[ A young, innocent woman steps along a muted forest path, a basket hanging from her arm. This scenario has played out in many worlds since time immemorial, with a few variations: Sometimes, it's a girl in red visiting her dear granny; others, a sweet little princess frolicking with her animal friends. The threat of lurking evil remains the same universally- a figure obscured by forest shadows seeks to do harm to the innocent maiden. (And deep in the multi-verse, someone is imagining this scenario set to the Jaws theme.) ]

[ This was Aerith's plight. The beautiful, unsuspecting flower girl bent down to pick a late bloom from an unfamiliar plant when there came a ferocious growl from the bush behind her. Wide eyed, she turned to meet the attack, but it was already too late-- that terrible something leapt from the bushes and threw itself at her. The communication feed managed to catch only one scream before abruptly cutting out. ]
